SKIES OF ASTRA
Skies of Astra is an original transmedia IP developed by SuperBlimp. The project is currently on hiatus while the studio focuses on its upcoming original short, Monster's Whisper. The world, characters, and lore presented below remain part of the SuperBlimp universe and may return to active development in the future. Skies of Astra is an original transmedia IP developed by SuperBlimp, built around an immersive and enigmatic world where dreamers navigate the Astral Skies and uncover the celestial city of Astra. The project was developed with content planned across XR and longform formats, and the world includes over 200 original characters, a fully realised lore system, and a complete fictional geography. Skies of Astra remains one of the studio's most ambitious original worldbuilding efforts to date.The Lore
The world of Skies of Astra is built around the astral planes, a boundless canvas for adventure and discovery where dreamers can transcend the physical world. Central to the lore is the dreamcatcher, a mystical artefact that allows dreamers to cross between realms. Within this world, the Nightflyers are lucid dreamers who are aware they’re dreaming, able to dream-share across timelines and travel through the astral planes by their will alone.
The Characters
The development of Skies of Astra produced over 200 original characters, each with their own distinct design, traits, and backstory. The character work was built to support intricate story arcs across multiple narrative formats, with each design developed as part of a wider cast that could populate a fully imagined world. The characters span a wide range of styles and tones, from blindfolded young heroes and electric-powered punks to spectral creatures and shadowy figures, all sharing a single coherent visual logic.
The World
Astra’s visual identity combines ancient architecture with futuristic design, anchored by the nocturnal lighting of nighttime carnivals and festivals. The world is fully mapped, with locations including the City of Astra, the Astral Towers, the Realm of the Creeps, the Midsummer Temple, the Great Lake, the Ruins of Old Town, and Wild Town, each with their own character and inhabitants. The full geography was developed as part of the worldbuilding to support storytelling across multiple formats.
